A quarter of a million people are thought to have transferred “final salary” pension entitlements in the past two years alone – yet some savers are getting far less cash than they should.
Advisers’ fees for completing a final salary pension transfer vary dramatically. Some, such as Tideway Investment Partners, charge only if a transfer goes ahead.
The firm charges 1pc on transfers up to £1m and around 1.5pc as an ongoing fee. Other firms will charge to run an analysis whether or not they recommend that the transfer go ahead. They argue that this removes the incentive to recommend a transfer in order to get paid.
